The Passing of Edward Travaglianti

We are saddened to share the news of Edward Travaglianti’s passing on August 24, 2021, after a short illness. Ed was a founding member of the Board of Directors at Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation and served in that role until 2018. During his years with the Foundation, he also was a member of the Executive and Audit Committees as well as the Co-Chairman of the annual Swinging for Scholarships Golf Tournament. Ed was the Honoree at the 2015 STARS for Students Scholarship Gala as well.

Ed held an esteemed career in the banking industry for more than fifty years, including the leadership position of Chairman and CEO of European American Bank for over a decade. Likewise, Ed was the President of TD Bank Long Island from 2008 until his passing. Ed served his community with equal vigor and dedication. In addition to being a champion for Catholic education on Long Island, Ed also held longtime board positions with such institutions as Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Long Island University, the Don Monti Memorial Foundation and NYU Winthrop University Hospital, of which he had been Chairman. A lifelong resident of the New York area, Ed received his BA degree in Economics from Brooklyn’s St. Francis College in 1970, with subsequent study in Corporate Finance and Banking at NYU’s Stern Graduate School of Business in Manhattan. Together with his wife, Pat, they made their home in Lloyd Harbor, NY, and raised their two children: Edward and Meredith. Ed was also blessed with four grandchildren. Visitation will be at M.A. Connell Funeral Home located at 934 New York Avenue in Huntington on Thursday, August 26th, from 6:00 – 9:00pm and Friday, August 27th, from 2:00 – 4:00pm and 7:00 – 9:00pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Huntington on Saturday, August 28th, at 9:15am.
