Why was the Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation established?

Catholic education is a high priority in the Diocese of Rockville Centre.  Parishes are not able to fund solely the cost of running a school.  Many families living on Long Island cannot afford the tuition to send their children to Catholic Schools.  By raising funds from individuals and corporations, the Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation will help provide the needed support for society’s future leaders growing up on Long Island to continue to receive a quality Catholic education.

Why is the foundation called “Tomorrow’s Hope?”

The name “Tomorrow's Hope” was selected by Bishop William Murphy.  The reason can be found in the first paragraph of the foundation’s mission statement which reads:

We believe that young people are tomorrow's hope. They are a valued treasure and our future leaders. As part of the educational ministry of the local Church, we support Catholic schools as learning communities in which the gospel of Jesus is taught, lived and experienced on a daily basis”

What is the Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation?

Tomorrow's Hope was incorporated in September 2005 as a tax exempt not for profit public charity under Section 501( c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Service. The mission of the foundation is to help support and keep Catholic education viable in the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

The 41 members of the board bring a wide range of experience and expertise to the foundation.  Along with Bishop William Murphy and Diocesan Superintendent of Schools, Sister Joanne Callahan, the board consists of  leaders of private and public organizations, among them a current state senator, a former state congressman and a former U.S. senator.  Their backgrounds include education, corporate leadership, law, advertising and work with other non-profit organizations.  Many know the benefits of a Catholic education first-hand.
