Philip Goglas

Philip Goglas is presently an Assistant Town Attorney for the Town of Smithtown and a Special Prosecutor for the Village of Islandia.

Active in the community, Phil Goglas, is an Ex-Captain of Engine 3 of the Central Islip Fire Department, where he is still an active volunteer firefighter. He is a past Board member of the Long Island Head Start program and the Central Islip Civic Council. He is also a past Vice-president of the Cordello Avenue Elementary School PTA and past member of the Central Islip School District PTA Council, as well as other committees in the Central Islip Union Free School District.

Mr. Goglas is a former cochairman of the Central Islip Summit Committee.

He is also a founding member and past President of the Suffolk County Hispanic Bar Association and present member of the Suffolk County Bar Association.

Mr. Goglas is also a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Suffolk County Chapter and a DAT team member.

He attended Catholic elementary school first in Brooklyn, and then St. Hugh of Lincoln in Huntington Station. He attended St. Mary's Seminary High School, Garrison for the 9th grade and graduated from Holy Family Diocesan High School, South Huntington in 1977. He attended St. John's University and received a BA in Political Science and minor in Public Administration and his Juris Doctorate degree from Brooklyn Law School. He attended law school in the evening while working as a New York City Transit Police Officer.

Presently residing in Central Islip with his wife, Marilyn (awaiting her teaching degree from Dowling May 2006), and two children, Genevieve, a junior at St. Anthony's High School, and Philip II, 8th grader, St. Mary's, East Islip, the family are active members in their parish of St. John of God since 1992.

Mr. Goglas believes and stresses the values of family, education and hard work in our everyday lives.
