Kathleen Giamo is President of the Giamo Group, a professional real estate consulting firm specializing in economic development and commercial real estate services. The Group advises clients on the most effective way to promote and develop property for the highest and best use. Services include the development of public and private partnerships to enhance the revitalization and redevelopment of the downtown corridors.

Giamo is the former Senior Vice President and Director of Corporate and Community Development for Reckson Associates Realty Corp., a New York Stock Exchange Real Estate Investment Trust, specializing in the acquisition, leasing, financing, management and development of industrial and office properties.

Giamo joined Reckson in 1980 as Marketing Director for the Company, establishing the advertising and marketing programs for the firm. In 1982 she became the Director of Leasing and negotiated the leasing transactions for the Company. She was responsible for creating the business, financial and construction parameters for the development of vacant properties.

The company became public in 1995 after which Giamo became Senior Vice President and directed the leasing of the Long Island office portfolio comprised of 8 million square feet. In 2000 she was promotes to Senior VP of Corporate and Community Development, responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with public, private and government entities. In this capacity she directed the community outreach programs and distribution of funds for public and government relations.

Giamo is chair of the Board of Directors for The Real Estate Practitioner's Institute of Long Island University. She is a member of the Board of the Long Island Business Development Council and a member of the Urban Land Institute, a worldwide organization of land management and development experts and sits on the council for public and private partnerships. In this capacity she is part of the team who have authored for national publication the 10 Point Plan for Developing Public, Private Partnerships. She was a founding member of the Women Economic Developers of Long Island and the former Chair of the Route 110 Action. She served as an advisor to Sustainable Long Island and is a member of the Industrial and Office Brokers Association of New York.

In January of 2004 she serves as the Chairperson of the Economic Development Transition Team doe Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy. She was subsequently appointed to Chair the Economic Development Advisory Council, which advises the County Executive on economic Development matters pertinent to the business community. S

he has received numerous awards for her outstanding community service, including North Shore Hospital, the American Heart Association, and the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation, and the Real Estate Division of the March of Dimes. In 2003 the Business Woman of the Year Award was presented to her by Women on the Job, a diversity and equality in the workplace organization. She is a former member of the Good Samaritan Hospital and the SUNY Old Westbury Foundation.

At present she is a Board Member of the United Way of Long Island, the YMCA, The Nature Conservancy and the Long Island Philharmonic. Giamo also serves on the Advisory Board of the Suffolk County Child Care Council and the National Mentoring Council for Youth. In addition she is the Chairperson of the Building and Grounds Committee of the Family Service League of Long Island. She represented the not for profit on the purchase and development of the Bayshore facility, as well as, overseeing the seven locations owned and leased by the organization. She lecture's on the principles of downtown revitalization and teaches a course on real estate marketing at Long Island University Continuing Education.

Ms. Giamo is a lifelong resident of Long Island and currently resides in Hauppauge, Long Island, New York.
